I have 2 cameras, Y-Cam White and a Panasonic C131 which have been working fine (on wireless) for over 12 months.

I have just changed from BT based ADSL to Virgin Cable which means that the router has also changed from a Netgear to a DLink DIR-615

I have had all sorts of niggly problems with both cameras since this change, but now appear to have the Y-Cam running (since taking advice on a another post and setting the channel to 11 rather than auto)

However the Panasonic remains a PITA. It seems the router and camera keeps loosing the connection and consequently the ability to view the image from the camera is intermittent.

It is this intermittent nature of the fault which is so annoying. For maybe 2 hours everything is fine (I can view over the LAN and/or WAN) then the connection is lost. Checking my router confirms the mac address has only been connected for a minute or so. After about 5 mins the ability to see the camera on the LAN and WAN returns.

When at home I can see the light has become flashing orange during these periods.

Help.....

TIA Richard

Hi Richard,

sounds to me like either range or interference. Firstly, how far away from the router is the camera? Does it still do this when it's sitting right next to it? Also, is there any form of electrical interference (TVs, Microwaves, wireless landline phones, neighbour's WiFi etc) which might be interfering with the signal? How many walls are between. If you are using WPA encryption you may want to set it down to WEP temporarily to see if this reduces the problem.

Another alternative would be to see if a friend or relative has a spare wireless router you can use for testing. This will tell you if it is a router or a camera fault (I wouldn't think it was the camera if it has been working for a year but you can never be too careful).

Let us know how you get on.
