|
|
An email came in yesterday to our office with new firmware for the Y-cam White, Black and Knight.
V2.56 Includes the following additions/fixes:
Changes/Additions:
Auto mode for Moonlight Mode
UPnP support for Leviton routers
MAC address detailed in UPnP discovery information
Model name in RTSP DESCRIBE
Anonymous access in the User Management page
Bug Fixes
WiFi Connection issues
On quizzing Y-cam about the WiFi fix I was given a little more information:
"The wireless issue that was resolved involved the periodic disconnection of the camera from certain routers. We have identified a number of routers which tend to fluctuate in their power output especially when the internal temperature of the router increases. Since IP cameras require a steady and reliable connection and the fluctuation would interrupt communications, the cameras now have a better way of maintaining a connection and reviving the connection if it is lost."
It appears the WiFi may be a little more stable on certain models of routers so if you're having WiFi difficulties we suggest you upgrade to this firmware.
Firmware V2.56B
Note: This firmware is for 2nd generation cameras only. Please contact us or Y-cam if you are unsure what model of camera you have.

Thanks for posting this.
However, unfortunately it still hasn't resolved my wireless issues. The camera can 'see' the router when I do a search bit it refuses to connect. I've had the camera running for almost a year without issues, then the wireless suddenly stopped. Upgrading to 2.50 sorted it for a short while, then it just stopped again. 2.56 just doesn't work at all!
So for now, it's pretty useless, as it has been for the past couple months. I just leave it switch off now |

Had same problem so bought a homeplug - works well. Only had the problem with the 2nd Gen black when outside in the housing but when inside and also my 1st gen white work fine. Its not my router signal...think ycam need to do more on this |

|

Hi everybody,
I've a Y-cam knight bought 2 years ago. Since the last two firmware upgrade, my cam doesn't connect to wifi router anymore.
I've a Wag54gp2 Linksys, and until the upgrades the cam was connected.
I usally use the WPA and WPA2 security. It seems the y-cam can't handle this kind of security with the new firmware.
So far is pretty useless without Wifi.. it is an ornament so far!
Does someone has the same issues ? Does someone has resolved these problems ?
Thanks in advance.

Yes, I'm still checking on here for firmware updates as mine simply will not work now. Mine is a Linksys WAG354G router.
I've thought of trying to contact Y-Cam about this, but I never get a reply and I have better things to do.
How would I go about getting old versions of the firmware so I can finally get my camera working again? |

Hi CJ,
I was wondering the same thing..
I've also written to support but they don't reply yet.
If my memory does not fail, there's a "factory" Cd in the package of y-cam. I'm gonna try this lead.
cheers.
